Functional category : Polyamines degradation

Name : Polyamines degradation
Organism : Caenorhabditis elegans
Description : Polyamines are required for numerous important processes such as wound healing, tissue growth and diferentitaion, and tumor growth. The peroxisomal enzyme PAO plays a ROLE in regulation of intracellular polyamine concentration, acting as a determinant of cellular sensitivity to the antitumor polyamine analogs. N(1)-acetylated polyamines and, in less extension, spermine, are substrates for PAO.
